(نَوَصَ) النُّونُ وَالْوَاوُ وَالصَّادُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى تَرَدُّدٍ وَمَجِيءٍ وَذَهَابٍ. وَنَاصَ عَنْ قَرْنِهِ يَنُوصُ نَوْصًا. وَالْمَنَاصُ الْمَصْدَرُ، وَالْمَلْجَأُ أَيْضًا. قَالَ سُبْحَانَهُ: {وَلَاتَ حِينَ مَنَاصٍ} . وَيَقُولُونَ: النَّوْصُ: الْحِمَارُ الْوَحْشِيُّ لَا يَزَالُ نَائِصًا: رَافِعًا رَأْسَهُ، يَتَرَدَّدُ كَالْجَامِحِ. وَنَاوَصَ الْجَرَّةَ: مَارَسَهَا. وَمَرَّ تَفْسِيرُهُ فِي بَابِ الْجِيمِ.
