(كَتَوَ) الْكَافُ وَالتَّاءُ وَالْوَاوُ. الْكَتْوُ: مُقَارَبَةُ الْخَطْوِ. يُقَالُ: كَتَا يَكْتُو كَتْوًا. حَكَاهُ ابْنُ دُرَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ.
(كَتَوَ) الْكَافُ وَالتَّاءُ وَالْوَاوُ فِيهِ كَلِمَةٌ لَا مَعْنَى لَهَا، وَلَا يُعَرَّجُ عَلَى مِثْلِهَا. يَقُولُونَ: اكْتَوْتَى الرَّجُلُ، إِذَا بَالَغَ فِي صِفَةِ نَفْسِهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ عَمَلٍ. وَاكْتَوْتَى تَعْتَعَ. وَلَيْسَ هَذَا بِشَيْءٍ.
