(كَنَسَ) الْكَافُ وَالنُّونُ وَالسِّينُ أَصْلَانِ صَحِيحَانِ، أَحَدُهُمَا يَدُلُّ عَلَى سَفْرِ شَيْءٍ عَنْ وَجْهِ شَيْءٍ، وَهُوَ كَشْفُهُ. وَالْأَصْلُ الْآخَرُ يَدُلُّ عَلَى اسْتِخْفَاءٍ.

فَالْأَوَّلُ: كَنْسُ الْبَيْتِ، وَهُوَ سَفْرُ التُّرَابِ عَنْ وَجْهِ أَرْضِهِ. وَالْمِكْنَسَةُ: آلَةُ الْكَنْسِ. وَالْكُنَاسَةُ: مَا يُكْنَسُ.

وَالْأَصْلُ الْآخَرُ: الْكِنَاسُ: بَيْتُ الظَّبْيِ. وَالْكَانِسُ: الظَّبْيُ يَدْخُلُ كِنَاسَهُ.

وَالْكُنَّسُ: الْكَوَاكِبُ تَكْنِسُ فِي بُرُوجِهَا كَمَا تَدْخُلُ الظِّبَاءُ فِي كِنَاسِهَا. قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ: تَكْنِسُ فِي الْمَغِيبِ.
