(عَدَبَ) الْعَيْنُ وَالدَّالُ وَالْبَاءُ زَعَمَ الْخَلِيلُ أَنَّهُ مُهْمَلٌ، وَلَعَلَّهُ لَمْ يَبْلُغْهُ فِيهِ شَيْءٌ. فَأَمَّا الْبِنَاءُ فَصَحِيحٌ. وَالْعَدَابُ: مُسْتَرِقٌّ مِنَ الرَّمْلِ. قَالَ ابْنُ أَحْمَرَ: كَثَوْرِ الْعَدَابِ الْفَرْدِ يَضْرِبُهُ النَّدَى ... تَعَلَّى النَّدَى فِي مَتْنِهِ وَتَحَدَّرَا
