(شَمَخَ) الشِّينُ وَالْمِيمُ وَالْخَاءُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى تَعَظُّمٍ وَارْتِفَاعٍ. يُقَالُ جَبَلٌ شَامِخٌ، أَيْ عَالٍ. وَشَمَخَ فُلَانٌ بِأَنْفِهِ، وَذَلِكَ إِذَا تَعَظَّمَ فِي نَفْسِهِ. وَشَمْخٌ: اسْمُ رَجُلٍ.
