باب الشين والسين و (وا يء) معهما ش وس، شء س مستعملان

شوس: شاس يشاس، وشوس يشوسُ شوساً. ورجلٌ أشوسُ وامرأة شوساءُ، إذا عرف في نظره الغضب أو الحقدُ، قال :

إني رأيت بني أبيك ... يحمَّجُون إليّ شوسا

التَّحميجُ: تحديق النظر.

شأس: مكانٌ شئسٌ، أي: خشن من الحجارة. وأمكنةٌ شؤس، وقد شئس يشأس شأساً. ويقال [مقلوباً] : شاسيءُ جاسيءُ، أي: يابس [وهو] مثل: حسن بسن. شأس: اسم أخي علقمة بن عبدة.

(شَوَسَ)
فِي حَدِيثِ الَّذِي بَعَثَهُ إِلَى الْجِنِّ «فَقَالَ: يَا نبيَّ اللَّهِ أسُفْعٌ شُوسٌ؟» الشُّوسُ:
الطّوال، جمع أَشْوَسَ. كذا قال الخطابي. (س) وَفِي حَدِيثِ التَّيْمِىّ «رُبَّما رَأَيْتُ أَبَا عُثْمَانَ النهدِىَّ يَتَشَاوَسُ، يَنْظرُ أزالَتِ الشمسُ أَمْ لَا» التَّشَاوُسُ: أَنْ يَقْلب رأسَه ينظرُ إِلَى السماءِ بإحْدَى عَينَيهِ. والشَّوَسُ: النَّظَرُ بِأَحَدِ شِقَّيَ العينِ. وَقِيلَ هُوَ الَّذِي يُصَغِّر عَيْنَيْهِ وَيَضُمُّ أجْفاَنه لينْظَر.

(شَوُسَ) الشِّينُ وَالْوَاوُ وَالسِّينُ أَصْلٌ وَاحِدٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى نَظَرٍ بِتَغَيُّظٍ. مِنْ ذَلِكَ الشَّوَسِ: النَّظَرُ بِأَحَدِ شِقَّيِ الْعَيْنِ تَغَيُّظًا. وَرَجُلٌ أَشْوَسُ مِنْ قَوْمٍ شُوسٍ. وَيُقَالُ هُوَ [الَّذِي] يُصَغِّرُ عَيْنَيْهِ وَيَضُمُّ أَجْفَانَهُ.
