زَنِبَ، كَفَرِحَ: سَمِنَ.
والأَرْنَبُ: السَّمينُ، وبه سُمِّيَتِ المَرْأةُ زَيْنَبَ، أو مِنْ زُنابى العَقْرَبِ لزُباناها، أو مِنَ الزَّيْنَبِ، لِشَجَرٍ حَسَنِ المَنْظَرِ طَيِّبِ الرَّائِحَةِ، أو أصْلُها: زَيْنُ أب.
وزَنْبَةُ: امْرَأَةٌ.
والزَّيْنَبُ: الجَبانُ.
والزِّينابَةُ، بالكسرِ: سَمَكَةٌ دَقِيقَةٌ.
وأبو زُنَيْبَةَ، كَجُهَيْنَةَ: من كُناهُم. وعَمْرُو بنُ زُنَيْبٍ، كَزُبَيْرٍ: تابِعِيُّ.
والزَّأْنَبَى، كَقَهْقَرَى: مَشْيٌ في بُطْءٍ. وزَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ أمِّ سَلَمَة، كانَ رسولُ اللَّهِ، صلى الله عليه وسلَّم، يَدْعُوها: زُنابَ، بالضم.
