(ذهب) - في الحديث: "فبعث عَلِىٌّ بذُهَيْبَة" .
هي تَصْغِير ذَهَبة، أَدخَل الهاءَ فيها على نِيَّة القِطْعَة منها. وقد يُؤَنَّثُ الذَّهَب، فعَلَى هذا تَكُون تَصْغِير ذَهَبَ. كما يُقالُ: في تَصْغِير قِدْر وطَسْت : قُدَيْرَة وطُسَيْسَة.

(ذَهَبَ) الذَّالُ وَالْهَاءُ وَالْبَاءُ أُصَيْلٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى حُسْنٍ وَنَضَارَةٍ. مِنْ ذَلِكَ الذَّهَبُ مَعْرُوفٌ، وَقَدْ يُؤَنَّثُ، فَيُقَالُ ذَهَبَةٌ، وَيُجْمَعُ عَلَى الْأَذْهَابِ. وَالْمَذَاهِبُ: سُيُورٌ تُمَوَّهُ بِالذَّهَبِ، أَوْ خِلَلٌ مِنْ سُيُوفٍ. وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ مُمَوَّهٍ بِذَهَبٍ فَهُوَ مَذْهَبٌ. قَالَ قَيْسٌ:

أَتَعْرِفُ رَسْمًا كَاطِّرَادِ الْمَذَاهِبِ ... لِعَمْرَةَ وَحْشًا غَيْرَ مَوْقِفِ رَاكِبٍ

وَيُقَالُ رَجُلٌ ذَهِبٌ، إِذَا رَأَى مَعْدِنَ الذَّهَبِ فَدَُهِشَ. وَكُمَيْتٌ مُذْهَبٌ، إِذَا عَلَتْهُ حُمْرَةٌ إِلَى اصْفِرَارٍ. فَأَمَّا الذِّهْبَةُ فَمَطَرٌ جَوْدٌ. وَهِيَ قِيَاسُ الْبَابِ; لِأَنَّ بِهَا تَنْضُرُ الْأَرْضُ وَالنَّبَاتُ. وَالْجَمْعُ ذِهَابٌ. قَالَ ذُو الرُّمَّةِ:

فِيهَا الذِّهَابُ وَحَفَّتْهَا الْبَرَاعِيمُ

فَهَذَا مُعْظَمُ الْبَابِ. وَبَقِيَ أَصْلٌ آخَرُ، وَهُوَ ذَهَابُ الشَّيْءِ: مُضِيُّهُ. يُقَالُ ذَهَبٌ يَذْهَبُ ذَهَابًا وَذُهُوبًا. وَقَدْ ذَهَبَ مَذْهَبًا حَسَنًا.
