خَرْعونُ:
بفتح أوله، وتسكين ثانيه، وعين مهملة، وآخره نون: من قرى سمرقند من ناحية أبغر، منها أبو عبد الله محمد بن حامد بن حميد الخرعوني، يروي عن عليّ بن إسحاق الحنظلي وقتيبة بن سعيد، روى عنه جماعة، منهم حافده إسمعيل بن عمر بن محمد بن حامد الخرعوني تكلموا فيه، توفي سنة 301.
