الْخَاء وَالْبَاء وَالْوَاو

خَبت النارُ، والحربُ، والحِدَّةُ، خَبْواً وخُبُواً: سَكنت وطَفِئت.

وأخْبيتها أَنا.

وَقَوله تَعَالَى: (كلما خَبت زِدْناهم سعيرا) ، قيل: مَعْنَاهُ: سَكن لهيبُها.

وَقيل مَعْنَاهَا: كلما تمنَّوا أَن تخبو، أَو أَرَادوا أَن تخبو.
