بالفتح ثم السكون، وهو في اللغة الشاة التي ابيضّت أوظفتها قال سلمى بن المقعد القرمي الهذلي:
إذا حبس الذّلّان في شر عيشة، ... كبدت بها بالمستسنّ الأراجل
فما إن لقوم في لقائي طرفة، ... بمنخرق الحجلاء، غير المعابل
