الأَضَمُ الحِقْدُ والحَسَدُ وأَضِمَ عليه أَضَماً غضِبَ وأَضِمَ به أَضَماً فهو أضِمٌ عَلِقَ بِه وأَضِمَ الفَحْلُ بالشُّوَّلِ عَلِقَ بها يَطْرُدُها ويَعَضُّها وأَضِمَ الرجلُ بأهلِه كذلك وإِضَمٌ مَوْضعٌ قال النابغةُ

(فاحْتَلَّتِ الشَّرْعَ فالأَجْرَاعَ من إِضَمَا ... )

- فِي حَدِيثِ وَفْدِ نَجْرَان «وأَضِمَ عَلَيْهَا مِنْهُ أَخُوهُ كُرْزُ بْنُ عَلْقَمَةَ حَتَّى أَسْلَمَ» يُقالُ أَضِمَ الرَّجُل بِالْكَسْرِ يَأْضَمُ أَضَماً إِذَا أضْمر حِقْداً لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ إِمْضَاءَهُ.
(س) وَمِنْهُ الْحَدِيثُ الْآخَرُ «فَأَضِمُوا عَلَيْهِ» .
(س) وَفِي بَعْضِ الْأَحَادِيثِ ذِكْرُ «إِضَم» ، هُوَ بِكَسْرِ الْهَمْزَةِ وَفَتْحِ الضَّادِ اسْمُ جَبَلٍ وَقِيلَ مَوْضِعٌ.
