أَصْحابَ الرَّسِ
قيل: هو واد، قال الشاعر:
وهنّ لوادي الرَّسِّ كاليد للفم
وأصل الرَّسِّ: الأثر القليل الموجود في الشيء، يقال: سمعت  رَسّاً من خبر ، ورَسُّ الحديث في نفسي، ووجد رَسّاً من حمّى ، ورُسَّ الميّتُ: دفن وجعل أثرا بعد عين.

(رَسَّ) الرَّاءُ وَالسِّينُ أَصْلٌ وَاحِدٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى ثَبَاتٍ. يُقَالُ رَسَّ الشَّيْءُ: ثَبَتَ. وَالرَّسِيسُ: الثَّابِتُ. وَمِنَ الْبَابِ رَسْرَسَ الْبَعِيرُ، إِذَا نَضْنَضَ بِرُكْبَتِهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَنْهَضَ. وَمِنَ الْبَابِ فُلَانٌ يَرُسُّ الْحَدِيثَ فِي نَفْسِهِ. وَسَمِعْتُ رَسًّا مِنْ خَبَرٍ، وَهُوَ ابْتِدَاؤُهُ; لِأَنَّهُ يَثْبُتُ فِي الْأَسْمَاعِ. وَيُقَالُ رُسَّ الْمَيِّتُ: قُبِرَ. فَهَذَا مُعْظَمُ الْبَابِ. وَالرَّسُّ: وَادٍ مَعْرُوفٌ فِي شِعْرِ زُهَيْرٍ:

فَهُنَّ وَوَادِي الرَّسِّ كَالْيَدِ فِي الْفَمِ

وَالرُّسَيْسُ: وَادٍ مَعْرُوفٌ. قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ:

لِمَنْ طَلَلٌ كَالْوَحْيِ عَافٍ مَنَازِلُهْ ... عَفَا الرَّسُّ مِنْهُ فَالرُّسَيْسُ فَعَاقِلُهْ

فَأَمَّا الرَّسُّ فَيُقَالُ إِنَّهُ مِنَ الْإِضْدَادِ، وَهُوَ الْإِصْلَاحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ وَالْإِفْسَادُ بَيْنَهُمْ. وَأَيُّ ذَلِكَ [كَانَ] فَإِنَّهُ إِثْبَاتُ عَدَاوَةٍ أَوْ مَوَدَّةٍ، وَهُوَ قِيَاسُ الْبَابِ.
