قال تعالى: وَلِمَنْ جاءَ بِهِ حِمْلُ بَعِيرٍ [يوسف/ 72] ، البَعِير معروف، ويقع على الذكر والأنثى، كالإنسان في وقوعه عليهما، وجمعه أَبْعِرَة وأَبَاعِر وبُعْرَان، والبَعْرُ: لما يسقط منه، والمِبْعَر:
موضع البعر، والمِبْعَار من البعير: الكثير البعر.

(بَعَرَ) الْبَاءُ وَالْعَيْنُ وَالرَّاءُ أَصْلَانِ: الْجَمَالُ، وَالْبَعَْرُ. يُقَالُ: بَعِيرٌ وَأَبْعِرَةٌ وَأَبَاعِرُ وَبُعْرَانُ. قَالَ بَعْضُ اللُّصُوصِ:

وَإِنِّي لَأَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ اللَّهِ أَنْ أُرَى ... أُجَرِّرُ حَبْلًا لَيْسَ فِيهِ بَعِيرُ

وَأَنْ أَسْأَلَ الْمَرْءَ اللَّئِيمَ بَعِيرَهُ ... وَبُعْرَانُ رَبِّي فِي الْبِلَادِ كَثِيرُ

وَالْبَعَْرُ مَعْرُوفٌ.
