الإعراض: الإضراب عن الشيء، وحقيقته جعل الهمزة للصيرورة، أي أخذت عرضا أي جانبا غير الجانب الذي هو فيه. وأعرض الشيء بدا عرضه ومنه أعرضت العود على الإناء، واعترض الشيء في حلقه، وقف فيه بالعرض، وأعرضه أظهر عرضه أي ناحيته.
