والأُحاحُ، بالضم: العَطَشُ، والغيظُ، وحزازَةُ الغَمِّ،
كالأَحِيحَةِ والأَحِيحِ.
أحْأَحَ زَيْدٌ: أكْثَرَ من قولِهِ: ياأُحاحُ.
وأحَّى: تَنَحْنَحَ، وأصْلُهُ: أحَّحَ، كَتَظَنَّى أصْلُهُ تَظَنَّنَ.
وأُحَيْحَةُ، مُصَغَّراً: ابنُ الجُلاحِ.

(أَحَّ) وَلِلْهَمْزَةِ وَالْحَاءِ أَصْلٌ وَاحِدٌ، وَهُوَ حِكَايَةُ السُّعَالِ وَمَا أَشْبَهَهُ مِنْ عَطَشٍ وَغَيْظٍ، وَكُلُّهُ قَرِيبٌ بَعْضُهُ مِنْ بَعْضٍ. قَالَ الْكِسَائِيُّ: فِي قَلْبِي عَلَيْهِ أُحَاحٌ، أَيْ: إِحْنَةٌ وَعَدَاوَةٌ. قَالَ الْفَرَّاءُ: الْأُحَاحُ: الْعَطَشُ. قَالَ ابْنُ دُرَيْدٍ: سَمِعْتُ لِفُلَانٍ أُحَاحًا وَأَحِيحًا: إِذَا تَوَجَّعَ مِنْ غَيْظٍ أَوْ حُزْنٍ. وَأَنْشَدَ:

يَطْوِي الْحَيَازِيمَ عَلَى أُحَاحِ وَأُحَيْحَةُ اسْمُ رَجُلٍ، مُشْتَقٌّ مِنْ ذَلِكَ. وَيُقَالُ فِي حِكَايَةِ السُّعَالِ: أَحَّ أحًّا. قَالَ: يَكمِنْ تَنَحْنُحٍ وَأَحِّ ... يَحْكِي سُعَالَ الشَّرِقِ الْأَبَحِّ

وَذَكَرَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَنَّهُ مَمْدُودٌ: آحَ. وَأَنْشَدَ:

كَأَنَّ صَوْتَ شَخْبِهَا الْمُمْتَاحِ ... سُعَالُ شَيْخٍ مِنْ بَنِي الْجُلَاحِ

يَقُولُ مِنْ بَعْدِ السُّعَالِ آحِ
