ءبط


أَبَطَ(n. ac. أَبْط)
a. Threw down.

تَأَبَّطَa. Placed beneath his arm-pit ( Hence
تَأَبَّطَ شَرًّا
became the surname of Thābit son of Jābir Al-Fahmi
because they assert the sword never quitted his arm-pit ).
إِبْط
(pl.
آبَاْط)
a. Arm-pit. — (col.) Bat
( pl.
Batat ).
ء ب ط : الْإِبْطُ مَا تَحْتَ الْجَنَاحِ وَيُذَكَّرُ وَيُؤَنَّثُ فَيُقَالُ هُوَ الْإِبْطُ وَهِيَ الْإِبْطُ وَمِنْ كَلَامِهِمْ رَفَعَ السَّوْطَ حَتَّى بَرَقَتْ إبْطُهُ وَالْجَمْعُ آبَاطٌ مِثْلُ حِمْلٍ وَأَحْمَالٍ وَيَزْعُمُ
بَعْضُ الْمُتَأَخِّرِينَ أَنَّ كَسْرَ الْبَاءِ لُغَةٌ وَهُوَ غَيْرُ ثَابِتٍ لِمَا يَأْتِي فِي إبِلٍ.

وَتَأَبَّطَ الشَّيْءَ جَعَلَهُ تَحْتَ إبْطِهِ.
