[وط ف] الوَطَفُ: كَثْرَةُ شَعَرِ الجاجِبَيْنِ والعَيْنَيْنِ مع اسْتِرخاءٍ وطُولٍ، وهو أَهْوَنُ من الزَّبَبِ، وقد يكونُ ذلك في الأُذُنِ، ورَجُلٌ أَوْطَفُ، وامْرَأَةٌ وطَفَاءُ. وبَعيرٌ أَوْطَفُ: كَثِيرُ الوَبَرِ سَابِغُه. وعَيْنٌ وَطْفاءُ: فاضِلَةُ الشُّفْرِ مُسْتَرْخِيَةُ النِّظَرِ. وظَلامٌ أَوْطَفُ: مُلْبِس دان، وأكْثَرُ ما يُقالُ في الشَّعَرِ. وسحابٌ أَوْطَفُ: في وَجْههِ كالخَمْلِ الثَّقِيل، وسَحابَةٌ وَطْفاءُ كذلكِ، وقِيلَ: هو الّذِي فيه اسْتِرْخاءٌ. وعامٌ أَوْطَفُ: مخصبٌ كثير الخير وعيشٌ أوطفُ: ناعِمٌ واسِعٌ. وخُذْ ما أَوْطَفَ لك، أَيْ: ما أَشْرَفَ وارْتَفَعَ، كقَوْلَِهم: خُذْ ما أوْهَفَ لكَ. ووَطَفَ وَطْفاً: طَرَدَ الطَّرِيدَةَ وكان في إِثْرِها. ووَطَفَ الشَّيْءَ على نَفْسِه وَطْفاً، عنِ ابنِ الأَعرابيِّ، ولم يُفَسِّرْه.
