[هيط] الهِياطُ والمُهايَطَةُ: الصياح والجَلَبة. يقال: وقع القوم في هِياطٍ ومِياطٍ. قال الفراء: تهايَطَ القومُ، إذا اجتمعوا وأصلحوا أمرهم بينهم، وهو خلاف التمايط.
