الهيض: الكسر بعد الجبر، هضته فانهاض. والهيضة: معاودة الهم والحزن والمرضة بعد المرضة. والبجيذق. وهيض الطير: سلحه، هاض يهيض. وهو المهائض واحدتها مهيض. والهيضاء: الجماعة من القوم.

(هَيَضَ) الْهَاءُ وَالْيَاءُ وَالضَّادُ كَلِمَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ تَدُلُّ عَلَى كَسْرِ شَيْءٍ، وَمَا أَشْبَهَهُ. يُقَالُ: هَاضَ عَظْمَهُ: كَسَرَهُ بَعْدَ الْجَبْرِ. وَكَذَا هِيضَ الْإِنْسَانُ: نُكِسَ فِي مَرَضِهِ بَعْدَ الْبُرْءِ. وَفِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ: «إِنَّ هَذَا يَهِيضُكَ» .
