[هرع] دمٌ هَرِعٌ: أي جارٍ بيِّن الهَرَعِ. وقد هَرِعَ. ورجلٌ هَرِعٌ: سريعُ البكاء. والهَرِعَةُ: المرأةُ التي تُنْزِلُ حين يخالطها الرجلُ. والمَهْروعُ: المجنون الذي يُصْرَعُ. والإهْراعُ: الإسْراعُ. وقوله تعالى: {وجاءهُ قَوْمُهُ يُهْرَعونَ إليه} ، قال أبو عبيدة: أي يُسْتَحَثُّونَ إليه، كأنَّه يحثُّ بعضهم بعضاً. وأُهْرِعَ الرجلُ على ما لم يسمّ فاعله، فهو مُهْرَعٌ، إذا كان يُرْعَدُ من غضبٍ أو حمَّى أو فَزَع. والهَيْرَعُ: الجبانُ الضعيفُ. وريحٌ هَيْرَعٌ: سريعةُ الهبوبِ. وربَّما سمُّوا قصبةَ الراعي التي يزمِرُ بها هَيْرَعَةً ويراعة. واهرمع الرجل، أي أسرع في مشيه، وكذلك إذا كان سريع البكاء والدموع. وأظن الميم زائدة
