مَعمَعَ
a. Walked, travelled in the heat.
b. Dispatched (work).
c. Fought.
d. Drenched ( the ground ).
مَعْمَعa. Prudent; firm (woman).
مَعْمَعَة
(pl.
مَعَاْمِعُ)
a. Crackling ( of the fire ).
b. Noise, turmoil, tumult; rebellion.

مَعْمَعَان مَعْمَعَانِيّ
a. Great heat.

(مَعْمَعَ)
(هـ) فِيهِ «لَا تَهْلِكُ أُمَّتِي حَتَّى يكُونَ بَيْنَهُمُ التَّمايُلُ والتَّمايُزُ والْمَعَامِعُ» هِيَ شدّةُ الْحَرْبِ والجِدُّ فِي الْقِتَالِ.
والمَعْمَعَة فِي الْأَصْلِ: صوتُ الْحَرِيقِ. والمَعْمَعَان: شِدّة الْحَرِّ.
(هـ) وَمِنْهُ حَدِيثُ ابن عمر «كان يَتَتَبَّعُ اليومَ المَعْمَعَانِيَّ فيصومهُ» أَيِ الشديدَ الْحَرِّ.
وَفِي حَدِيثِ ثَابِتٍ «قَالَ بَكْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: إِنَّهُ لَيَظَلُّ فِي الْيَوْمِ المَعْمعانِيّ البعيدِ مَا بَيْنَ الطَّرَفين يُراوِحُ مَا بَيْنَ جَبْهَتِه وقَدَميه» .
وَفِي حَدِيثِ أوْفَى بنِ دَلْهم «النّساءُ أربعٌ، فَمِنْهُنَّ مَعْمَعٌ، لَهَا شَيْؤُها أجْمَعُ» هِيَ المسْتبِدّةُ بمالِها عَنْ زوجِها لَا تُواسِيه مِنْهُ، كَذَا فُسِّر.
