مَجْرٌ:
بالفتح ثم السكون، والمجر: الكثير المتكاثف، ومنه جيش مجر، والمجر: أن يباع البعير أو غيره بما في بطن الناقة وهو بيع فاسد نهى عنه، عليه الصلاة والسلام: وهو غدير كبير في بطن قوران يقال له ذو مجر من ناحية السوارقية، وقيل هضبات مجر، قال الشاعر:
بذي مجر أسقيت صوب الغوادي
ولا يستقيم البيت حتى يفتح الجيم من مجر ليصير من بحر الطويل الثالث ويقطع الألف أيضا، وإن كان من المتقارب فمع الوصل، قاله عرّام.

(مَجَرَ) الْمِيمُ وَالْجِيمُ وَالرَّاءُ ثَلَاثُ كَلِمَاتٍ لَا تَنْقَاسُ. فَالْأَوْلَى الْمَجْرُ، وَهُوَ الدَّهْمُ الْكَثِيرُ. وَالثَّانِيَةُ الْمَجْرُ: أَنْ يُبَاعَ الشَّيْءُ بِمَا فِي بَطْنِ النَّاقَةِ. «وَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ عَنِ الْمَجْرِ» . وَكَانَتْ [الْعَرَبُ] فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ تَفْعَلُهُ.

وَالثَّالِثَةُ الْمَجَرُ بِفَتْحِ الْجِيمِ، وَهُوَ مَا يَكُونُ فِي بُطُونِ الْإِبِلِ وَالشَّاءِ مِنْ دَاءٍ. وَشَاةٌ مُمْجِرٌ وَمِمْجَارٌ، إِذَا حَمَلَتْ فَهُزِلَتْ فَلَمْ تَسْتَطِعِ الْقِيَامَ إِلَّا بِمَنْ يُقِيمُهَا، وَقَلَّمَا تَسْلَمُ مِنْهُ قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ: " الضَّأْنُ مَالُ صِدْقٍ إِذَا أَفْلَتَتْ مِنَ الْمَجَرِ ".
