هو ملقّب بكذا ومتلقّب، وقد لقّب به وتلقّب، ونبز بلقب قبيح " ولا تنابزوا بالألقاب ". وقال الحماسيّ:

أكنيه حين أناديه لأكرمه ... ولا ألقّبه والسّوأة اللّقبا

وتقول: " الجار أحقّ بصقبه "، والمرء أحق بلقبه. وتلاقب القوم، ولاقبه ملاقبة.
