[كرش] الكَرِشُ لكلِّ مُجْتَرٍّ بمنزلة المعدة للإنسان تؤنِّثها العرب. وفيها لغتان كَرِشٌ وكِرْشٌ، مثل كَبِدٍ وكِبْدٍ. وكَرِشُ الرجل أيضاً: عِياله من صغار ولده. يقال: هم كَرِشٌ منثورةٌ، أي صبيان صغار. وتزوَّج فلانٌ فلانةَ فنثرَتْ له كَرِشَها وبطنَها إذا كثُر ولدها له. والكَرِشُ أيضاً: الجماعة من الناس. ومنه الحديث: " الانصار كرشى وعيبتى ". والكرشان: الازد وعبد القيس. واستكرشت الانفحة، لان الكرش تسمَّى إنْفَحَة ما لم يأكل الجديُ، فإذا أكل تسمَّى كَرِشاً. وقد استكرشت. وقول الرجل إذا كلفته أمرا: " إن وجدت إلى ذلك فاكرش ". أصله أن رجلا فصل شاة فأدخلها في كرشها ليطبخها، فقيل له: أدخل الرأس. فقال: إن وجدت إلى ذلك فاكرش. يعنى إن وجدت إليه سبيلا. وتكرش وجهه، أي تقبَّض. ابن السكيت: امرأةٌ كَرْشاءُ: عظيمة البطن. ويقال للأتان الضخمة الخاصرتَين: كَرْشاءُ. والكَرْشاءُ: القدمُ التي كثُر لحمها واستوى أخْمَصُها وقصُرت أصابعها.
