(غَيَظَ) الْغَيْنُ وَالْيَاءُ وَالظَّاءُ أُصَيْلٌ فِيهِ كَلِمَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ، يَدُلُّ عَلَى كَرْبٍ يَلْحَقُ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ غَيْرِهِ. يُقَالُ: غَاظَنِي يَغِيظُنِي. وَقَدْ غِظْتَنِي يَا هَذَا. وَرَجُلٌ غَائِظٌ وَغَيَّاظٌ. قَالَ:

سُمِّيتَ غَيَّاظًا وَلَسْتَ بِغَائِظٍ ... عَدُوًّا وَلَكِنَّ الصَّدِيقَ تَغِيظُ
