(ضَهَبَ) الضَّادُ وَالْهَاءُ وَالْبَاءُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى شَيْءٍ وَمَا أَشْبَهَ ذَلِكَ. فَمِنْ ذَلِكَ اللَّحْمُ الْمُضَهَّبُ: الَّذِي يُشْوَى. وَقَالَ قَوْمٌ: هُوَ الَّذِي يُشْوَى وَلَا يُنْضَجُ. وَقَالَ امْرُؤُ الْقَيْسِ:

نَمَشُّ بِأَعْرَافِ الْجِيَادِ أَكُفَّنَا ... إِذَا نَحْنُ قُمْنَا عَنْ شِوَاءٍ مُضَهَّبٍ

وَقَالُوا: الضَّيْهَبُ: الْمَكَانُ يُحْمَى لِيُشْوَى عَلَيْهِ اللَّحْمُ. وَقَالَ قَوْمٌ: اللَّحْمُ الْمُضَهَّبُ: الْمُقَطَّعُ. وَلَيْسَ هَذَا بِشَيْءٍ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ مُقَطَّعًا مَشْوِيًّا ; لِأَنَّ الْقِيَاسَ كَذَا هُوَ. تَقُولُ: ضَهَّبْتُ الْقَوْسَ [وَ] الرُّمْحَ بِالنَّارِ عِنْدَ التَّثْقِيفِ.
