(صَقَبَ) الصَّادُ وَالْقَافُ وَالْبَاءُ لَا يَكَادُ يَكُونُ أَصْلًا ; لِأَنَّ الصَّادَ يَكُونُ مَرَّةً فِيهِ السِّينُ، وَالْبَابَانِ مُتَدَاخِلَانِ، مَرَّةً يُقَالُ بِالسِّينِ وَمَرَّةً بِالصَّادِ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ يَدُلُّ عَلَى الْقُرْبِ وَمَعَ الِامْتِدَادِ مَعَ الدِّقَّةِ.

فَأَمَّا الْقُرْبُ فَالصَّقَبُ. وَجَاءَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ: «الْجَارُ أَحَقُّ بِصَقَبِهِ» ، يُرَادُ فِي الشُّفْعَةِ. وَالصَّاقِبُ: الْقَرِيبُ. وَالرَّجُلَانِ يَتَصَاقَبَانِ فِي الْمَحَلَّةِ، إِذَا تَقَارَبَا.

وَأَمَّا الْآخَرُ فَالصَّقْبُ: الْعَمُودُ يُعْمَدُ بِهِ الْبَيْتُ، وَجَمْعُهُ صُقُوبٌ. قَالَ ذُو الرُّمَّةِ:

صَقْبَانِ لَمْ يَتَقَشَّرْ عَنْهُمَا النَّجَبُ

وَأَمَّا قَوْلُهُمْ: صَقَبْتُ الشَّيْءَ، إِذَا ضَرَبْتَهُ، فَلَا يَكُونُ إِلَّا عَلَى شَيْءٍ مُصْمَتٍ يَابِسٍ. فَمُمْكِنٌ أَنْ يَكُونَ مِنَ الْإِبْدَالِ، كَأَنَّهُ مِنْ صَقْعَتِهِ، فَيَكُونُ الْبَاءُ بَدَلًا مِنَ الْعَيْنِ.
