قد استعملها العرب؛ قال رؤبة:

رأَيتُ في جَنْبِ القَتامِ الأَبْرقا،

كفِلْكةِ الطاوِي أَدارَ الشَّهْرَقا

وكذلك شَهْرقُ الحائِك والخارط والحفّار؛ كله عن أبي حنيفة.
