شنف: الشَّنَفُ: شِدَّةُ النَّظَرِ، شَنِفَ إليها وشَفِنَ. وشَنَفَ بأنْفِهِ وخَنَفَ: كأنَّه يُهْزِلُ به. والشانِفُ: المائِلُ. والشَّنَفُ: شِدَّةُ البُغْضِ، شَنِفَ يَنْشَفُ شَنَفاً. والشَّنْفُ مَجْزُوْمٌ: مِعْلاقٌ في قُوْفِ الأُذُنِ. وهو أيضاً: ما جُعِلَ منه في القَلائِدِ. والشُّنُوْفُ: الذَّهَبُ؛ في قَوْلِ أوْسٍ: وُجُوْهٌ كالشُّنُوْفِ تَهَلَّلُ والشَّنْفَاءُ من الشِّفَاهِ: الشَّفَةُ المُنْقَلِبَةُ؛ وهي العُلْيَا، والاسْمُ: الشَّنَفُ.
