[شبل] الشِبْلُ: ولد الأسد، والجمع أَشْبُلٌ وأَشْبالٌ . ولبؤةٌ مُشْبِلٌ: معها أولادها. أبو زيد: يقال للناقة مشبل، إذا قوى ولدها ومشى معها. وأَشْبَلَتِ المرأة بعد بعلها: صبرت على أولادها فلم تتزوج. الكسائي: شَبَلْتُ في بني فلان، إذا نشأت فيهم. وقد شَبَلَ الغلامُ أحسَنَ شُبولٍ، إذا نشأ. وأشبل عليه، أي عطف.

(شَبَلَ) الشِّينُ وَالْبَاءُ وَاللَّامُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى عَطْفٍ وَوُدٍّ. يُقَالُ لِكُلِّ عَاطِفٍ عَلَى شَيْءٍ وَادٍّ لَهُ: مُشْبِلٌ. وَمِنْهُ اشْتِقَاقُ الشِّبْلِ، وَهُوَ وَلَدُ الْأَسَدِ ; لِعَطْفِ أَبَوَيْهِ عَلَيْهِ. وَيُقَالُ لَبُؤَةٌ مُشْبِلٌ، إِذَا كَانَ مَعَهَا أَوْلَادُهَا. وَأَشْبَلَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ، إِذَا صَبَرَتْ عَلَى أَوْلَادِهَا فَلَمْ تَتَزَوَّجْ. وَقَالَ الْكُمَيْتُ:

الْمُلَبْلِبُ وَالْمُشْبِلُ

وَحُكِيَ عَنِ الْكِسَائِيِّ: شَبَلْتُ فِي بَنِي فُلَانٍ، إِذَا نَشَأْتَ فِيهِمْ. وَقَدْ شَبَلَ الْغُلَامُ أَحْسَنَ الشُّبُولِ، إِذَا أَدْرَكَ. وَهَذَا عَلَى السَّعَةِ وَالْمَجَازِ ; لِأَنَّهُ يُشْبَلُ عَلَيْهِ، أَيْ يُعْطَفُ.
