والسَّنْدَرَةُ السُّرْعَةُ والسَّنْدَرَةُ ضَرْبٌ من الكَيْلِ غُرَافٌ جِرَافٌ والسَّنْدَرُ مِكيالٌ مَعْروفٌ والسَّنْدَرَةُ شَجَرَةٌ تُعْملُ منها القِسِيُّ والنّبلُ ومنه قيل سَهْمٌ سَنْدَرِيٌّ وقيل السَّنْدَرِيُّ ضَرْبٌ من السِّهَامِ والنِّصَال وقيل هو الأَبيضُ منها والسَّنْدَرِيُّ الرَّدِيءُ والجَيَّد ضِدٌّ والسَّنْدَرِيُّ من شُعرائِهم قال

(لكَيْلا يكونَ السَّنْدَرِيُّ نَدِيدَتِي ... )
