(رَشَفَ) الرَّاءُ وَالشِّينُ وَالْفَاءُ أَصْلٌ وَاحِدٌ، وَهُوَ تَقَصِّي شُرْبِ الشَّيْءِ. وَالرَّشْفُ: اسْتِقْصَاءُ الشُّرْبِ حَتَّى لَا يَدَعَ فِي الْإِنَاءِ شَيْئًا. رَشَفَ يَرْشُفُ وَيَرْشِفُ. وَفِي كِتَابِ الْخَلِيلِ: الرَّشَْفُ: بَقِيَّةُ الْمَاءِ فِي الْحَوْضِ. وَالرَّشْفُ: أَخْذُ الْمَاءِ بِالشَّفَتَيْنِ، وَهُوَ فَوْقَ الْمَصِّ. وَالرَّشُوفُ: الْمَرْأَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ الْفَمِ. وَمَعْنَى هَذَا أَنَّ رِيقَتَهَا مِنْ طِيبِهَا تُتَرَشَّفُ.
