(رَسَبَ) الرَّاءُ وَالسِّينُ وَالْبَاءُ أَصْلٌ وَاحِدٌ، هُوَ ذَهَابُ الشَّيْءِ سُفْلًا مِنْ ثَِقَلٍ. تَقُولُ: رَسَبَ الْحَجَرُ فِي الْمَاءِ يَرْسُبُ. وَحَكَى بَعْضُهُمْ رَسَبَتْ عَيْنَاهُ: غَارَتَا. فَإِنْ كَانَ صَحِيحًا فَهُوَ مَحْمُولٌ عَلَى مَا ذَكَرْنَاهُ، مُشَبَّهٌ بِهِ. وَالسَّيْفُ الرَّسُوبُ: الَّذِي يَمْضِي فِي الضَّرِيبَةِ، فَكَأَنَّهُ قَدْ رَسَبَ فِيهَا. وَرَاسِبٌ: حَيٌّ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ.
