بما قد أرى الدارات، دارأت واسط، ... فما قابلت ذات الصليل فجلجل
وقال أعرابيّ وقتل ذئبا:
أقول له، والنبل تكوي إهابه ... إلى جانب المعزاء: يا آل ثارات
قلائص أصحابي وغيري، فلم أكن، ... إذا ما كبا، الرّعديد ذا كبوات
فأنقذت منه أهل دارة واسط، ... وأنصله ينصلن منحدرات
