حردب: الحَرْدَبُ: حَبُّ العِشْرِقِ، وهو مثل حَبِّ العَدَسِ.

وحَرْدَبةُ: اسم؛ أَنشد سيبويه:

عَلَيَّ دِماءُ البُدْنِ، إِنْ لم تُفارِقي * أَبا حَرْدَبٍ، لَيْلاً، وأَصحابَ حرْدَبِ

قال: زَعَمت الرُّواةُ أَن اسمه كان حَرْدبةَ، فرَخَّمه اضْطِراراً في

غير النِّداء، على قول من قال يا حارُ، وزعم ثعلب أَنه من لُصُوصِهم.
