[حثث] حثه على الشئ واستحثه بمعنىً، أي حضَّه عليه، فاحْتَثَّ. وحَثَّثَهُ تحثيثاً وحَثْحَثَهُ بمعنىً. وولَّى حثيثاً، أي مسرعاً حريصاً. ولا يَتَحاثُّونَ على طعام المسكين، أي لا يتحَاضُّون. والحِثِّيثَى: الحَثُّ، وكذلك الحثحوث. وقرب حثحاث، أي سريع ليس فيه فتور. وفرس جواد المحثة، أي إذا حُثَّ جاءه جريٌ بعد جريٍ. وقولهم: ما اكْتَحَلْتُ حَثاثاً، أي ما نمت. وقال الاصمعي: حثاثا بالكسر. قال أبو عبيد: وهو بالفتح أصح. والحث بالضم: حطام التبن، والرمل الخشن. عن الأصمعيّ. والخبز القَفار ، عن أبي عبيد، وسَويقٌ حُثٌّ، أي غير ملتوت.
