حبض: مَحَبَّض: ممثل الهزليات (لين، عادات 1: 250، 2: 123).
حبط: خيط: اكثر من الأكل، وامتلأ بطنه. ولا يستعمل هذا الفعل في الكلام عن الدواب، بل يستعمل أيضاً في الكلام عن الناس. (الثعالبي لطائف ص108).

(حَبَضَ) الْحَاءُ وَالْبَاءُ وَالضَّادُ أَصْلَانِ: أَحَدُهُمَا التَّحَرُّكُ، وَالْآخَرُ النَّقْصُ.

فَالْحَبَضُ: التَّحَرُّكُ، وَمِنْهُ الْحَابِضُ، وَهُوَ السَّهْمُ الَّذِي يَقَعُ بَيْنَ يَدِي رَامِيهِ، وَذَلِكَ نُقْصَانُهُ عَلَى الْغَرَضِ. وَيُقَالُ حَبَضَ مَاءُ الرَّكِيَّةِ: نَقَصَ.

وَيُقَالُ مِنَ الثَّانِي: أَحْبَضَ فُلَانٌ بِحَقِّي إِحْبَاضًا، أَيْ أَبْطَلَهُ. وَأَمَّا الْمَحَابِضُ، وَهِيَ الْمَشَاوِرُ: عِيدَانٌ تُشْتَارُ بِهَا الْعَسَلُ، فَمُمْكِنٌ أَنْ يَكُونَ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِ. قَالَ ابْنُ مُقْبِلٍ:

كَأَنَّ أَصْوَاتَهَا مِنْ حَيْثُ تَسْمَعُهَا ... صَوْتُ الْمَحَابِضِ يَنْزِعْنَ الْمَحَارِينَا
