[ث أد] التَّأَد: الثَّرَى والنَّدَى. وثَئِدَ النََّبْتُ ثَأَداً، فهو ثَئِدٌ: نَدِيَ. وفَخِذٌ ثَئِدَةٌ: رَيَّا مُمْتَلِئَةٌ. وما أَنَا بابْنِ ثَأْدَاءَ ولا دَأْثاءَ: أي لَسْتُ بعاجِز. وقِيلَ في الثَّأْداءِ ما قِيل في الدَّأْثاءِ من أَنَّها الأَمُةَ والحَمْقاءًُ جَمِيعاً، قال:

(وما كُنَّا بَنِي ثَأْداءَ لَمَّا ... شَفَيْنا بالأَسِنَّةِ كُلَّ وِتْرِ)

ورَواهُ يَعْقُوبُ: ((حَتَّى شَفَيْنَا)) . ومالَهُ: ثَئِدَتْ أُمَّهُ، كما يُقالُ: حَمُقَتْ.
