التُّرَّهَاتُ: الأباطِيلُ، واحِدَتُها تُرَّهَةٌ، وهي المَفَاوِز - أيضاً - والصَّحاري. والرِّياحُ أيضاً. والدَّاوهي، وجَمْعُها تَرَارِيْهُ. والسَّحائب. والتُّرَهَةُ: دُويبَّةٌ في الرَّمْلِ.

(تَرَهَ) التَّاءُ وَالرَّاءُ وَالْهَاءُ كَلِمَةٌ لَيْسَتْ بِأَصْلٍ مُتَفَرِّعٍ مِنْهُ. قَالُوا: التَّرَّهَاتُ، وَالتُّرَّهُ الْأَبَاطِيلُ مِنَ الْأُمُورِ. قَالَ رُؤْبَةُ:

وَحَقَّةٍ لَيْسَتْ بِقَوْلِ التُّرَّهِ

قَالُوا: وَالْوَاحِدُ تُرَّهَةٌ. قَالَ: وَجَمَعَهَا أُنَاسٌ عَلَى التَّرَارِيهِ. قَالَ:

رُدُّوا بَنِي الْأَعْرَجِ إِبْلِي مِنْ كَثَبْ ... قَبْلَ التَّرَارِيهِ وَبَعْدَ الْمُطَّلَبْ
