[بهج] البَهْجَةُ: الحُسن. يقال: رجل ذو بَهْجَةٍ. وقد بَهُجَ بالضم بَهاجَةً فهو بَهيجٌ. قال الله تعالى: (مِنْ كُلِّ زَوجٍ بَهيجٍ) . وبَهِجَ به بالكسر، أي فرِح به وسُرَّ، فهو بَهِجٌ وبَهيجٌ. قال: كان الشباب رداء قد بَهِجْتُ به * فقد تطايَرَ منه لِلبِلى خِرَقُ وبَهَجَني هذا الأمرُ بالفتح، وأَبْهَجَني، إذا سَرَّكَ. وأَبْهَجَتِ الأرضُ: بَهِجَ نباتُها. والابتهاج: السُّرور.
