العرفان: كالمعرفة إدراك الشيء بتفكر وتدبر، فهو أخص من العلم. ويقال فلان يعرف الله، ولا يقال يعلم الله، لما كانت المعرفة تستعمل في العلم القاصر المتوصل إليه بتفكر، ويضاد المعرفة الإنكار، والعلم الجهل.
