التقطيع: فِي اللُّغَة جعل الشَّيْء قِطْعَة قِطْعَة. وَفِي اصْطِلَاح الْعرُوض أَن يَجْعَل أَلْفَاظ الْبَيْت مُنْفَصِلا متجزيا على وَجه يكون كل مِقْدَار من أَلْفَاظه موازنا بأجزاء الْبَحْر الَّذِي يكون ذَلِك الْبَيْت من ذَلِك الْبَحْر.
