الابن: الولد سمي به لكونه بناء للأب لأنه الذي بناه وجعله الله سببا لإيجاده، ويقال لكل ما يحصل من جهة شيء، أو تربيته أو تفقده أو كثرة خدمته أو قيامه بأمره ابنه، نحو ابن السبيل للمسافر، وابن الحرب للمجاهد، وفلان ابن بطنه وابن فرجه إذا كان همه مصروفا إليهما، وابن يومه إذا لم يتفكر في غد.
