(كَعَمَ) الْكَافُ وَالْعَيْنُ وَالْمِيمُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى سَدِّ شَيْءٍ بِشَيْءٍ وَإِمْسَاكٍ. فَالْكِعَامُ: شَيْءٌ يُجْعَلُ فِي فَمِ الْبَعِيرِ فَلَا يَرْغُو. وَيُقَالُ: كَعَمَهُ فَهُوَ مَكْعُومٌ. وَتَقُولُ: كَعَمَهُ الْخَوْفُ فَلَا يَنْطِقُ. قَالَ ذُو الرُّمَّةِ:

يَهْمَاءَ خَابِطُهَا بِالْخَوْفِ مَكْعُومُ

وَمِنَ الْبَابِ: كَعَمَ الرَّجُلُ الْمَرْأَةَ، إِذَا قَبَّلَهَا مُلْتَقِمًا فَاهَا، كَأَنَّهُ سَدَّ فَاهَا بِفِيهِ. وَالْكِعْمُ: وِعَاءٌ مِنَ الْأَوْعِيَةِ.
