بضمتين: ماء بنجد من ديار عمرو بن كلاب عند القارة التي تسمى ذات النطاق، وبالقرب منه موضع يسمّى نبرا، بالنون.

(تَبَرَ) التَّاءُ وَالْبَاءُ وَالرَّاءُ أَصْلَانِ مُتَبَاعِدٌ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا: أَحَدُهُمَا الْهَلَاكُ، وَالْآخَرُ [جَوْهَرٌ] مِنْ جَوَاهِرِ الْأَرْضِ.

فَالْأَوَّلُ قَوْلُهُمْ: تَبَّرَ اللَّهُ عَمَلَ الْكَافِرِ، أَيْ أَهْلَكَهُ وَأَبْطَلَهُ. قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: {إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ مُتَبَّرٌ مَا هُمْ فِيهِ وَبَاطِلٌ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ} [الأعراف: 139] .

وَالْأَصْلُ الْآخَرُ التِّبْرُ، وَهُوَ مَا كَانَ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ غَيْرَ مَصُوغٍ.
