: (الأَلْعَثُ) ، بِالْعينِ الْمُهْملَة، أَهمله الجوهريّ، وَقَالَ الأَزهرِيّ: هُوَ (الثَّقِيلُ البَطِىءُ) . (وَقد لَعِثَ، كفَرِحَ) لَعَثاً. قَالَ أَبو وَجْزَةَ السَّعْدِيُّ:
ونَفَضْتُ عَنِّي نَوْمَها فسَرَيْتُهَا
بالقَوْمِ من تَهِمٍ وأَلْعَثَ وَانِى
والتَّهِمُ والتَّهنُ: الذِي أَثْقَلَه النُّعاسُ.
