(شَجَذَ) الشِّينُ وَالْجِيمُ وَالذَّالُ كَلِمَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ. يُقَالُ: أَشْجَذَتِ السَّمَاءُ، إِذَا سَكَنَ مَطَرُهَا، قَالَ امْرُؤُ الْقَيْسِ:

تُظْهِرُ الْوَدَّ إِذَا مَا أَشْجَذَتْ ... وَتُوَارِيهِ إِذَا مَا تَشْتَكِرْ قَالَ ابْنُ دُرَيْدٍ: " الْوَدُّ: جَبَلٌ مَعْرُوفٌ. وَتَشْتَكِرُ: يَشْتَدُّ مَطَرُهَا، مِنْ قَوْلِهِمُ اشْتَكَرَ الضَّرْعُ، إِذَا امْتَلَأَ لَبَنًا ". وَأَمَّا نُسْخَتِي مِنْ " كِتَابِ الْعَيْنِ " لِلْخَلِيلِ، فَفِيهَا أَنَّ الشِّينَ وَالْجِيمَ وَالذَّالَ مُهْمَلٌ، فَلَا أَدْرِي أَهِيَ سَقَطٌ فِي السَّمَاعِ، أَمْ خَفِيَتِ الْكَلِمَةُ عَلَى مُؤَلِّفِ الْكِتَابِ. وَالْكَلِمَةُ صَحِيحَةٌ.
