بضم أوّله، والسّحام سواد كسواد الغراب الأسحم: وهو واد بفلج، قال امرؤ القيس:
لمن الدّيار غشيتها بسحام ... فعمايتين فهضب ذي إقدام
وبلاد بني سحام: باليمن من ناحية ذمار.
