جندب: الجُندب: الذَّكرُ من الجراد، ويقال: يشبه الجراد.

[جندب] فيه: فجعل "الجنادب" يقعن فيه، جمع جندب بضم دال وفتحها ضرب من الجراد، وقيل: هو الذي يصر في الحر. ومنه ح: كان يصلي الظهر و"الجنادب" تنقز من الرمضاء أي تثب.
